 Frequently asked questions

  • What happens when I contact you?

You can ask me questions on the phone or via email. You can then book an initial one-off appointment which does not commit you to further sessions but gives you an idea of how I work and whether you want to take counselling further.

  • How does the counselling work?

Some people feel that talking about their experiences would help the most while other people are looking for strategies and tools to help them with specific issues. I offer either or both according to your needs.

  • How long will the counselling last?

How long the counselling takes is something that we discuss together throughout the therapy. My aim is for counselling to come to an agreed ending when you feel you have received enough support.

  • How does counselling with young people work?

I have a lot of experience of working with adolescents and children in both a school and private setting working with anxiety, panic attacks and OCD, depression, family break-up, low self-esteem, school performance/exam stress, anger, socialising, body image .... Sessions can take the form of talking, looking for strategies and coping mechanisms, or using creative and arts materials. Counselling sessions for younger people (from 11 years) are usually a combination of play counselling and talking, but this is adapted according to the young person's preferences.
